So today gave me some challenges that I didn't expect. About 11am this morning one of my clients called and wanted to have lunch. Being that I enjoy the company of this client and his wife I accepted. We met at a Chinese Restaurant that has an excellent buffet. I was strong and only had roast pork, green beans (and you all know how much I love green beans) and a half a glass of lemonade. While the lunch wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be, it was later, at home, where the challenge really started.
Tonight was my night to cook. So I ended up in the kitchen with Parker in his high chair snacking on broccoli and Kallsen trying help me with what ever I was doing. So I prepared dinner (sloppy joes) while washing the dishes (we have no dish washer) and making ice tea. The difficult part came with no taste testing and knowing that I was preparing a meal that I was not going to eat.
Once I got the sloppy joes on simmer and the dishes clean I prepared the boys' plates and called Sara Beth and Joseph for dinner. I sat down with my family and said grace and then watched them eat. My wife had her two shakes for breakfast and lunch so she was ready for her regular meal. I, on the other hand, had lunch with my clients and was not able to eat the dinner meal with the family.
After dinner I then had the task of cleaning up the table, the floor (you know what it's like with kids under three) and the now full sink of dirty dishes. After that it was bath time and I normally do bath time. By the time I got to sit down and have my shake (one that was prepared at 7:00 AM for lunch) it was 8:15 tonight.
Anyway I was able to control my amount I ate at the buffet and able to hold off on eating sloppy joes with the family.
On the more positive side I had to tighten my belt one more notch today. For the first time since I bought this belt several years ago I am on the last notch and will either need to buy a new belt or punch more holes in this belt. Needless to say I hope I can find some pants that are a size or two smaller than what I have been wearing because pretty soon I won't be able to wear the ones I've been wearing the past six to nine months.
PS-Hopefully I won't end up having too many lunches with clients. Normally I sit in my car in a park in what ever town I'm in, drink my shake, read a book or newspaper and relax. While I enjoy the more casual atmosphere of a restaurant to talk with a client, I miss my time focusing on something other than work.
