A Weight Loss in Review

Now that the years end is here, I want to take time to review the weight loss of 2007. When the year began I was somewhere between 300 and 320 pounds. I now weigh as of this morning 259. It hasn't always be easy. But it has been worth while.

There are many people to thank for making the transition in my life possible. There are many more people to thank that I will miss mentioning in this post. They know who they are.

First I want to thank my wife. She has done a fantastic job of keeping me focused and giving me those little reminders when I needed them and has done a great job of making low calorie food and especially low calorie desserts so I too could enjoy a little extra every now and then. I truly believe I could not have been as successful without her help and support. Thank you.

Troy at the GNC store in Spencer, Iowa. Troy is the one that helped me put together my program of two protein shakes a day, Hoodia and he made sure I understood the importance of taking daily vitamins to make sure I was getting the vitamins I needed.

My Mom. Otherwise known on this blog as JudyRoo. She has been able to find the encouraging words when I was going through struggles with my focus.

My two sisters. They both help out tremendously when I began by sharing their own stories, thoughts and feelings about weight loss.

My Dad...mostly for his one comment a day in February. He said, "I almost didn't recognize you, you've lost so much weight."

Readers, who I don't know personally, that have emailed me their words of encouragement and their own stories about their daily struggles.

My two youngest kids, ages 2 and 3, that remind me on an almost daily basis that their combined weight is what I've lost since I began. When I pick them up and carry them from our bathroom to the living room to get dressed after bath time every night...reminds me that when I'm carrying them together like that that I am carrying the same amount of weight that I have lost since beginning my program.

My oldest son. He made a comment a few months ago that was simple, 'Wow' when I had worn a tie and nice dress shirt for the first time in a number of years.

My brother in law that gave me a lot of his old clothes since he too has been losing weight. It has saved me an untold amount of money by allowing me to not have to spend a lot of money to buy new clothes as I lose weight.

Friends that continue to notice and comment on my weight loss.

I know there are a lot more people that have been helpfully with their comments and suggestions. I thank each and every one of you for those comments.

If you're just finding this blog...please go back and read old posts. See the struggles and the success stories. One of my hopes is I can encourage others to also find a way to beat the weight.

Happy New Year.
