It's a Weight Loss New Years Thing

Now that we are into 2008 I have had lots of people (okay only 3) tell me that they're going to lose weight and get in better shape this year. They've all said I have inspired them to lose weight...seeing my success over the past year and a couple of weeks.

I'm glad to know that I have inspired some people to make changes when it comes to weight loss. And I hope that these are not new year resolutions that will fall by the wayside before we're done with January.

I read with interest this morning about employers that give overweight employees cash incentives to lose weight. Makes me wish I had some sort of incentive above just wanting to be healthier. You can go to a post I made last January about why I want to lose weight and get in better shape.

Even with cash incentives I don't believe you can lose weight and keep the weight you've lost off for any other reason than your own wants, needs and desires. While incentives can work when we're talking cold, hard cash. Once the incentive period is over what will keep you from keeping the weight off?

Do for your self. Do it for your family. Do it for the benefits that come with being in better shape.

my decision is a decision that I arrived at much like you did ad..I have been thinking about it for a long time and yesterday, which happened to be Jan 1st I knew I was ready..I did my reality check...stepping on the scale..and said...yep...today is the day and away I went..two days down and 1.8 lbs as of this morning..water weight I know..but weight is weight and it feels good...I check in here every day for motivation and to check on your journey..I am getting anxious to see your new blog now..keep up the good work you are doing!
