I was talking to someone I've known for a number of years yesterday and they commented on my weight loss and mentioned they needed to do something to lose weight. And they talked about where their weakness are and the struggles they face with their weight.
I offer my suggestions and encouragement. And as I was driving home yesterday I could help but think about the conversations I have had with this same person over the past couple of years about weight and getting back in shape. And I got to thinking about my own struggles.
I bet I had talked about losing weight and had several conversations with people over the period of several years before beginning my life long change in eating habits and the way I live my life when it comes to food. And it just reminds me that this is all encompassing.
Losing weight for a lot of us is more than cutting back, more than working out and more than watching what we eat. It is an ongoing battle/struggle every day. And it is so much more a mental game than most people probable realize or want to admit.
Why else is Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Over Eaters Anonymous so popular. I don't believe it is because of their plans or their products. I believe it is because of their counseling aspect of their programs. It is something to hold on to that just doing it yourself doesn't give.
And that is why I do this blog. It certainly helps with the mental game. And I helps that I have put myself out their for others to see and judge. And I tell my story most everyday. And that makes me accountable not only to myself but to others. And to the folks that have started programs similar to mine because of this blog or personal conversations...they look to my success and it helps them.

that's right ad...if what is in your head is "right" the rest is just what needs to be done...changing from the inside out requires us to pay attention to the inside and understand how on earth we got to the point we did...changing your life is so much harder than losing weight...it sure helps when people see the difference on the outside..
