Tying My Shoes

As I attempt to write a story or post every day on this blog I sometimes have a difficult time deciding what to write. And one those occasions is when I tell some stories about things that happened because I was way over weight at one time. Not always an easy thing to share.

Before I stepped on the scale on December 18th, 2006, I actually started eating better and attempting to lose weight. One thing that got me to start eating less and eating better pre-protein shake days was not being able to comfortably tie my shoes.

I can't recall the exact date but there was one morning that I was getting ready for work and I was struggling to tie my shoes. I was sitting on the couch and honestly could not reach over my stomach to reach my shoe to tie them before leaving for work. I had to move into the computer room and sit in a folding chair to tie my shoes. And that was a struggle as well.

So here's a "you might know your too fat if" joke...You can't tie your shoes because your stomach is so big...

The good news is tying my shoes is no longer a problem. No more struggles. And I'm down six inches in my waist since starting the protein plan. And down 60+ pounds since the day on the scale. And down even more weight since not being able to tie my shoes.

you are doing such a great job communicating from the inside out adam...you are right...people tend to only see the outside and think what a great job losing the weight..but to add the inside struggle and how the weight affects even the most normal daily activity is what is going to make people feel understood..and make it ok to talk about those things..
