A coworker of mine begun his quest to better health a couple of months ago. He has shared his success stories with me and has also shared his thoughts. He thinks I should possible abandon my protein shakes for more food.
He has made me a copy of an Ebook on healthy eating (I still have not read the book) and was telling me yesterday about my metabolism possible slowing down because of the lack of food or having too little calories. Makes me interested in reading the book.
I've always been told that eating something the sooner you wake up in the morning is key to getting your metabolism going and that when trying to lose weight its very important to get your first meal sooner than later after waking up in the morning.
I do know that I used to wait until after 8:00 to have my breakfast shake. I now have it as my two little ones eat breakfast.
When it comes to eating more, I'm not as hungry as I used to be and I don't always want to eat. And I think that is a battle won in its own right.
So before I start eating more, if that's what I choose to do, will have to come after some study (and reading that before mentioned Ebook) and lots of thought.

Adam,
Your metabolism is like a fire, keep it stoked and it will roar. Likewise if you don't give it food it will dwindle down to coals. Granted either way your metabolism is still burning calories but which way is the most effecient?
you may want to read the e-book ad..it goes along with what I have read in my sparkpeople site...
it is surely worth considering and seeing if it can make a difference..
I have been given the range of 1200 - 1550 calories a day and was eating less than the minimum just because I wasn't hungry..good food really isn't all that calorie laden..
when I started eating the minimum number of calories which they recommended...I started to see the scale go down...still fluctuated...but it kept going down so long as I was consistent...
I will be anxiously waiting to see what you think after you have had some time to think about this new idea...and do a little reading..
It seems that I might need to strongly consider what others are saying. At the same time it is hard to go against what has worked for me.
My guy from the GNC in Iowa once told me I will one day need to start having a small amount of food with either my breakfast shake or lunch shake. He suggested do it at lunch time to give a boost for later in the day.
At the same time I don't want to fall into the trap of over eating and watching the scale creep back up.
Thanks for the comments.
